In case you need any encouragement to get back on the tennis courts after Christmas, the Club will be holding an American Tournament on Sunday 17th January, from 9:30 to 12:45.
All adult club members are welcome to participate. We hope you can make it.
To all Wantage Tennis Club Committee members from the Secretary.
First of all, on behalf of the committee a big thank you to the 30 people who attended the AGM this Tuesday. It is the participation of the many, not just a few, that makes the club a great place to enjoy a game of tennis.
At the meeting we also said goodbye as a club to last year’s chairman Dave Saunders who is leaving the club. Dave did a lot up front and behind the scenes for the club during his year and we are sorry to see him go.
The new committee is:
Officers:
Steve Thompson Chairman
Richard Saunders Vice Chairman
Peter Hart Treasurer
Chris Gray Secretary
Carole Smythe Ladies Club Captain
Paul Homersham Mens Club Captain.
Ordinary Committee Members
Anne Jones, Sue Cronin, Paul & Gill Richards, Tim Ramirez, Judi Wilde and Jacky Dunn.
A couple of other points.
(1)If you would like to see a copy of the committee minutes when they become available, rather than looking in the clubhouse, just let me know and I will put you on the distribution list.
(2)Please sign up to British Tennis before November 30th so that the Club can have an increased allocation of Wimbledon tickets! It’s absolutely free! You will also become eligible for Wimbledon tickets yourself. You can sign up at http://www.lta.org.uk/britishtennismembership/

The coach, Ash Taylor, said that they were amazing, they have never had an Oxon team at any year group get promoted to the 2nd division. They were up against N Scotland, Cambridge and Hertfordshire.
Details will be posted on the OLTA website in due course.
We are affiliated to the Oxfordshire LTA and have each week 2 club nights in summer and 2 club mornings throughout the year. We play in various leagues in Oxfordshire and have 4 mens, 3 ladies and 3 mixed teams plus the Newbury League and Friendlies in summer and 4 mens and 3 ladies plus 4 Floodlit leagues (on other courts) and the Oxon Ladies Mid-Week League in winter. We also arrange a limited club night at the Abingdon Indoor Tennis Centre twice a month throughout the winter. We are keen to have new members so if you want to meet people and play some tennis come along to a club session to find out more.
