Histories
The Land upon which the Club stands originally formed part of the grounds of Charlton House, Wantage and was part of certain pastureland known as the Garstons.
On 1 December 1925, Howard Farnham Arbery, Cyril John Alfred Kent and Percy Staner Clark (the Trustees) purchased the Land from Francis Harry Wilson, a builder who lived in Earley in Berkshire, for the sum of £100.
On 8 November 1945, the Trustees confirmed in a Declaration of Trust that the sum of £100 had been refunded to them by the Members of the Club and that they, the Trustees, held the Land in trust for the Members of the Club.
On 31 December 1947, the Ministry of Supply purchased for £50 a strip of land from the Club at the front of the ground where it joined the cinder track which originally led to the Club, presumably to create the current road. The Ministry agreed in this purchase to re-site the clubhouse and the boundary iron fence.
On 2 November 1951, Cyril John Alfred Kent and Percy Staner Clark retired as trustees and on that same day by a resolution of the Members of the Club, John Alfred Kent, George Frederick Penney, Eileen Mabel Arbery and Betty Mabel Easey were appointed as the New Trustees.
On 14 July 1952, the Land was transferred to the New Trustees pursuant to their appointment.
On 14 October 1997, Betty Mabel Easey retired as a trustee and on the same day John Harrison, Sonia Green and John Haddrell were appointed as New Trustees. On 18 November 2003 John Alfred Kent died and on 29 September 2004 Paul Andrew Richards was appointed a New Trustee.
